Mercedes-Benz C-Class (00 - 07)
Although there were some physical changes, it still uses the same chassis, so it remains one of the best in its class for ride quality. It is much better looking and has improved significantly on the road. The cabin is as refined as you’d expect from a Merc. It’s comfortable, spacious, with plenty of quality materials, has a good level of standard and safety equipment. On the road, it handles really well; ride quality is excellent. Steering is sharp and responsive with lots of feedback. Overall, it a decent car to drive. There’s a lot to think about on the engine front, with a wide range to choose from. The price tag is reasonable and it doesn’t cost a fortune to keep on the road.
Look out for
• There were some reports of electrical glitches so test everything

• Practicality levels are high
• It scored five stars in the NCAP safety test
• There is a generous amount of standard equipment
• The interior is refined and comfortable
• The build quality is excellent; hardly any body-roll on corners
What we don't like
• Foot-operated parking brake takes some getting used to
